Qantaslink flight hits severe turbulence, two people taken to hospital
A passenger and a flight attendant on a Qantaslink flight have been taken to hospital after a plane hit severe turbulence on its way to Hervey Bay this afternoon.
Qantas confirmed to Brisbane Live the plane was flying from Brisbane to Hervey Bay when it encountered a “sudden turbulence event” on the way and had to turn back.
Paramedics were called to Brisbane Airport at 1.47pm to meet the QF2376 flight.
Two people were taken to St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in a stable condition.
It’s understood the cabin crew member had bad neck pain and the male passenger had a cut to his head.
“The aircraft returned to Brisbane where it landed normally and was met by emergency services to assist with injured passengers,” the airline said.
Five customers and crew were treated at the airport for minor injuries.
It’s believed the injured customers were not wearing seatbelts.
