The Queensland Building and Construction Commission has failed to help a Gold Coast resident after a ‘major defect’ was found in his three-storey home.

Gold Coast resident, Justin Herald, moved to Broadbeach Waters in 2022, and a month after moving in he noticed the top floor of his home was leaking. He went to the QBCC for help as the builders who built the home went into liquidation

Mr. Herald told Peter Gleeson on 4BC Drive, “So there is a lot of damage, and because we can’t do anything about it…damage keeps on happening, so [QBCC] they’re setting us up to fail and it’s just ridiculous.”

“The reason I have to go to QCAT, and I am being very blunt here, is because the QBCC couldn’t do the job that they’re actually there for, they’re there to protect people like us…” Mr. Herald continued.
