QFES conducts 14 water rescues in 24 hours as people ignore warnings
Authorities are warning south-east Queenslanders aren’t out of the woods as a severe weather system shifts into NSW.
The Gold Coast copped the brunt of heavy rains overnight, with Tallebudgera copping more than 340 millimetres since 9am yesterday.
QFES State Coordinator Brad Commens told Neil Breen emergency crews are being kept busy.
“We’ve had 14 water-related rescues during the last 24 hours, so it’s quite clear that people are still not heeding the warnings to not drive into floodwaters.
“In that same time, we’ve had 240 calls for assistance from the SES as well.”
