Queensland Cricket reacts to Gabba losing first Test match to Perth
The boss of Queensland Cricket has hosed down reports the Gabba could be replaced as the opener of the summer of Test cricket.
CEO Terry Svenson said there were a number of positives about the revamped summer schedule.
“Cricket Australia has announced the bumper summer schedule, we have probably got the most international games in Queensland we have ever had before,” he told Scott Emerson.
Mr Svenson played down reports the opener will be permanently moved to Optus Stadium.
“There certainly hasn’t been any conversation within Cricket Australia or the states that have been involved, in terms of moving a first Test to Perth.”
He says it’s a Cricket Australia decision at the end of the day.
“We haven’t got the first Test here this year, let’s be positive about it, we’ve got South Africa and I think that’s what our fans want to see.”
