Queensland flood victims win class action over dam mismanagement
Victims of the 2011 Queensland floods have won their class action against the Queensland government, Seqwater and Sunwater over dam mismanagement.
The group of over 6000 flood victims have won the largest class action in Australian history after the floods devastated large parts of Queensland and killed 33 people.
The Supreme Court found dam engineers operating the Wivenhoe and Somerset dams were negligent in holding back too much water in the leadup to the floods.
Flood victim Frank Beaumont tells Ben Fordham he’s “quietly confident” they’ve finally won their battle for compensation.
