Say it isn’t so! It would seem Brisbane Oktoberfest has seen its last day.

The company behind the annual event has appointed liquidators amid continued pressure on the hospitality sector.

Brisbane-based beer journalist Matt Kirkegaard told Laurel, Gary & Mark the event was run by a German family for 15 years.

“As you guys have seen, it’s a massive event and it takes a lot of time, a lot of cost and a lot of people.

“I think doing it the way that they do it is just really hard and very expensive to do.

“It just ran out of steam, unfortunately.”
