There have been sightings of exotic macaw birds in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and it’s confusing locals.

Ray Hadley mentioned the birds on air and quickly received a call from a famous Australian personality who was armed with an explanation.

“I don’t think I’ve ever taken an open line call from Kerri-Anne Kennerley before but by gee, I’m delighted to do it today.”

Australia’s television queen says the birds belong to a friend of hers.

“She has quite a few of them. They often go to Queen Street because people are lovely enough to feed them, which they shouldn’t., but they free fly every day and then they come back home.

“They’re fabulous around the neighbourhood.”

The Macaws have even been known to make appearances at the Woollahra Pub.
