Remembering an Australian hero
The community of Bellingen on the NSW Mid-North Coast is today remembering one of their own.
Sergeant Matthew Locke was a distinguished Australian soldier, who served in the Special Air Service Regiment in Afghanistan.
In 2006, he received the Medal for Gallantry.
But in 2007, his incredible life and military career was cut short, when he was killed by the Taliban.
Upon his passing, Matthew’s family established an annual charity event to celebrate his life and legacy, through the sport he loves – footy.
Now in its 11th year, the event has raised around $120,000 for various organisations and charities in the community.
With the big game underway, Erin and John catch up with Matthew’s brother, Debbie…but the chat took a couple of interesting turns…
