Anthony Albanese caves to pressure to hold emergency National Cabinet meeting
There are reports Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will reconvene National Cabinet for an emergency meeting amid the worsening winter peak of COVID-19 and flu cases.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been vocal in her push to hold a meeting with the states, saying it was important everyone was on the “same page” and whether they can expect another wave.
It’s been reported that the meeting will be held on Monday.
“Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was in the right on this issue, and jet-setting Anthony Albanese was in the wrong,” Neil Breen said on Brisbane Live.
“Anthony Albanese needs to get his hand on issues at home, he has done enough overseas trips for now.”
The government has been criticised for axe the $750 pandemic payments and free RAT tests.
