Restrictions up in the air for caravan parks as holiday period draws near
Caravan parks and tourism operators are awaiting more clarity around restrictions on unvaccinated visitors as bookings fill up.
The Queensland government has not announced an intention to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for any sector, passing the decision to individual business owners.
Businesses must choose between accepting only vaccinated customers at the benefit of relaxed restrictions, or allowing anyone at the cost of stronger sanctions.
“At the moment, caravan parks do have to comply with some restrictions,” Caravan Parks Association CEO Michelle Weston told Sofie Formica.
“We’re still waiting to see what the Queensland government’s announcements, in terms of restrictions relating to vaccinations, are going to mean.”
Ms Weston said placing the onus on business owners will make things difficult.
“There is no government directive that provides that clear guidance to consumers.”
