Rev. Bill Crews to host 50th Christmas lunch where ‘something special happens’
Reverend Bill Crews will celebrate Christmas Day with Sydney’s poor and lonely for the 50th time.
This Saturday, Liverpool Road in Ashfield will become a meeting point for thousands escaping loneliness and hunger.
Reverend Crews explained to Mark Levy while the annual lunch is filled with fanfare, it serves an incredibly important role.
“All that is really there to attract people who’ve got nowhere to go and for whom today would be a nightmare,” he said.
“Every year in the middle of all of that, something really special happens.
“There’s somebody there who really, the whole day is for.
“It’s what life’s all about, isn’t it? It’s reaching out to one another and kind of helping one another along the pathway of life.”
