A notorious blackspot in far north Queensland has been named the state’s worst intersection.

According to RACQ data, there have been 9 serious crashes at Florence Street and Mulgrave Road at Parramatta Park in Cairns, resulting in 18 people being injured over a 3 year period.

Most of the remaining hotspots for crashes are either in Logan or Moreton Bay.

RACQ spokesperson Susan Furze told 4BC News they all have similarities.

“They do have features that include: being intersections that are complex in nature, that are congested, that are heavily trafficked, these are all factors that mean motorists at those intersections do need to be more aware.”

Neil Breen said there was something that stood out to him from the list.

“It’s interesting when you read this list … they are all out of the Brisbane metropolitan area, do the roads in the Brisbane metropolitan area get looked after better?”

• Wembley Road and Mayes Avenue in Logan
• City Road and Logan Street, Logan
