Ricky Ponting names two players who could star for Australia ‘for a long, long time’
Newly appointed Australian cricket assistant coach, Ricky Ponting, has identified two players who could lead our team into the future.
The cricketing great has stayed involved in the national team set-up since retiring but has now joined Justin Langer’s team in an official capacity.
Speaking with Alan Jones, he says Kurtis Patterson and Marcus Stoinis are the ones fans should keep an eye on.
On Kurtis Patterson:
“He’s been one of those youngsters that’s been talked about for the last three or for years.
He’s had a couple of lean years but the talent’s certainly always been there.
We could potentially see him playing for Australia for a long, long time.”
On Marcus Stoinis:
“Well if you looked at MVPs for the Big Bash… he’s made runs almost every time he’s gone out there and he’s taken wickets for the Stars as well.
He’s probably the main reason that they find themselves in the semi-finals.
He’s got a very bright future in all forms of the game.”
