Senator Lambie refers her own country’s military to the International Criminal Court

Independent Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie has referred the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for an investigation into alleged war crimes committed in Afghanistan.

It all stems from the 2020 Brereton report, where the subsequent inquiry found evidence of 39 murders committed by ADF special forces soldiers.

But Senator Lambie’s issue is that the inquiry didn’t criminally investigate the ‘top brass’ of the ADF, and in her eyes, that’s a failure.

Senator Lambie has tried to table her letter to the ICC in the Senate, but Labor and the Coalition have been blocking her attempts to do so.
