Shadow Treasurer continues push on gender-based tax rates
The Opposition continues to defend claims the federal government’s income tax cuts would benefit men, more than women.
Figures by the Parliamentary Budget Office claim higher earning men would be better-off to the tune of $30 billion.
The results have been ridiculed by business leaders, economists and the government.
But Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen tells Alan Jones there is a legitimate problem.
“We want Australians retiring into a dignified retirement.
“Many more women are retiring into poverty and when you’ve got that gender pay gap I think it’s fair enough to examine and consider the implications of tax changes and other government policies.”
