Shocking amount of veterans falling into homelessness
As many as 1-in-20 homeless are former Defence Force personnel who struggle once they return to civilian life.
A study into homelessness among veterans has found a higher proportion of veterans are suffering a permanent disability.
Many are spending more than six years without a permanent home.
Researcher, Professor Paul Flatau tells Alan Jones not enough is done to assist personnel out of the force.
“That’s one of the factors, the extent to which people do go through a good transition into civilian life.
“We certainly need more support services around housing.”
