‘Shocking’: Streets turn into rivers in Melbourne’s north-west as floods hit
Residents in flood affected areas of Victoria are being urged to listen to advice, and not take unnecessary risks.
The federal government says it’s ready to assist the state as needed, with defence personnel already on the ground.
About 1000 homes have been flooded or isolated by floodwaters, and thousands of properties are without power.
In Maribyrnong, 7 minutes drive from the CBD, streets turned into rivers.
Nine News reporter Maggie Raworth told Spencer Howson on Brisbane Live, thankfully the water was starting to recede.
“The streets that were dry slowly turned into rivers here in Maribyrnong … it was really quite shocking for Melburnians to see such a sight.”
There have been multiple rescues, people rescued from the rooves of their houses and from cars.
