Sir John Monash Centre: ‘I had goosebumps’
Sir John Monash was one of the first under fire at Gallipoli and was the only Australian Brigade Commander among the original troops not killed or evacuated.
Follow his battle at Gallipoli, he was sent to the Western Front, impressing time and time again.
Chris previewed the new Sir John Monash Centre at Villers-Bretonneux, describing it as the “highlight” of his trip so far.
“The centre puts you right in the thick of it.
“You cannot get a closer experience of what these men went through on the battlefield.
“I had goosebumps.”
The centre incorporates old photos and footage, transforming them into visual stories.
Chris describes it as “wonderful reflection” of the four years Australia spent fighting on the Western Front.

“I think we’ve tried to show diversity for the experience Australians went through on the Western Front.
“It was meant to be an immersive experience, take you on an emotional journey, and put you in the time.”
