Thousands of households have been cut off from the NBN and landline phone services due to widespread flooding.

Services in Gympie, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane have been most impacted but there are reports of some disruptions in the Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay, Logan and North and South Burnett regions.

“There’s at the moment approximately around 6,700 customers who would be experiencing a disruption to their home internet or landline phone service,” Head of NBN Local Queensland Kylie Lindsay told Rob McKnight.

“I just want to make it really clear that NBN is not responsible for the phone network, so if people are having mobile phone issues, that sits with your mobile phone provider.”
