Spacewalking next door for sugar ‘not that far away’ as civilian launch makes history
Elon Musk’s SpaceX has made history by successfully launching Inspiration4 – the world’s first ever space flight without a professional astronaut onboard.
Space Industry Association of Australia CEO James Brown told Deborah Knight such missions are just the start of civilian space travel, with commercial space stations the next frontier.
“We’re not that far away” from swinging by a space station for a cup of gravity-free tea or some dehydrated rations, he joked.
“There’s a US company called Axiom that’s planning on putting its own privately-owned space station into orbit in 2024.
“NASA wants to see these commercial space stations in low Earth orbit in the next few years, so this stuff is not that far away.”
