A shattered Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media after Portugal’s exit from the World Cup, stopping short of announcing his next move.

Ronaldo left the field in tears after the devastating loss to Morocco, bringing his World Cup dream to a disappointing end.

He later posted on Instagram that it was time to take stock, saying the “dream was beautiful while it lasted”.

There’s speculation he could move to the Middle East after a bitter split from Manchester United.

“To win a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career. Fortunately, I won many titles of international dimension, including for Portugal,” he posted on Instagram.

“Let’s hope that time will be a good counsellor and allow everyone to draw their own conclusions.”

4BC host Jason Dasey, filling in on Brisbane Live, interviewed Ronaldo back in 2009, flying to Madrid after he moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

“The thing about Cristiano Ronaldo when you stand in front of him you realise what you think he is going to be like is what he’s like,” he said.
