Spirit tax increase causing strain on small businesses
It has been announced that there will be another rise in the alcohol tax, and small business owners are already feeling the impact.
The next CPI increase will see the tax on spirits increase to over $100 a litre.
President of the Queensland Distillers Association, David Ridden, told Peter Gleeson on 4BC Drive, “We have a federal government that is just trying to get us out of business.”
“It’s a sad day when you have a family business, and most of us small producers across the country are, when our family makes less money out of a bottle of spirit than the tax office…” Mr. Ridden continued.
