Queenslanders are warned to take sun safety seriously this summer after a poll by the Cancer Council produced shocking findings. 

The study found as many as two in every five adults don’t understand there’s a link between sun tanning and skin cancer.

It comes as Australia continues to produce the highest rate of skin cancer anywhere in the world.

Cancer Council CEO Chris McMillan told Sofie Formica year-on-year damage to skin ultimately culminates in skin cancer for many.

“People don’t realise the UV level here is 3 and above most of the year.”
