Stan Grant has just announced his departure from the ABC due to racial abuse and threats to his safety.

At 3pm this afternoon, Stan Grant stood down from his duties at the ABC, following the fallout of the ABC’s coverage of the Coronation of King Charles III.

Stan Grant will host the ABC’s Q&A on Monday as his last show.

ABC Director of News, Justin Stevens, released a statement saying, “Stan Grant’s been subject to grotesque racist abuse, including threats to his safety that’s become particularly virulent since he appeared as part of the ABC’s Coronation coverage”.

Neil Breen on Brisbane Live said “I condemn the attacks”, but he stands by the fact that broadcasting a panel discussion during the Coronation was the “wrong time”.
