Star Entertainment ‘unfit’ to hold casino licences in Qld
Star Entertainment is unsuitable to hold casino licences in Queensland, the Attorney-General has declared in light of an independent review’s bombshell findings.
An independent expert review by former justice Robert Gotterson has found those at Star in charge of preventing and mitigating money laundering had failed in their responsibility.
The state government has given in-principal support to all 12 recommendations made by Gotterson to enhance the integrity of casinos in Queensland.

“The recommendations go to a range of issues including strengthening the Casino control act and increasing gambling harm minimisation measures,” Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman said.
“The recommendations will ensure that Queensland casinos operate lawfully and transparently, as we all expect them to do so.”
Gotterson said cashless gaming and carded play would “cover matters of family harm, … and also matters relating to the integrity of casino operations”.
He made clear there was no suggestion of inappropriate interference by the Minister, nor was there sufficient justification to change the structure of the state regulator.
