Starlight urging Aussies to ‘dig deep’ to support sick kids
We’re being urged to “dig deep” to support those helping make the lives of sick children a little brighter.
It’s Starlight Day, the biggest fundraising event for the charity.
Starlight Chief Executive Louise Baxter says it’s their biggest event of the year.
“We need the community to dig really deep for starlight kids today,” she tells Ray Hadley.
“Every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital somewhere in Australia, and for thousands of these, what comes next is a diagnosis that changes their life and the life of their family forever.”
The foundation hopes to raise $1.3 million to help make the dreams of more than 33,000 sick children a reality.
A sausage sizzle is being hosted at Wynyard in Sydney’s CBD, with Lousie joined by Darryl ‘Big Marn’ Brohman, who is a Starlight Ambassador.
“Please don’t let him cook, please!” says Ray.
“He’ll burn the sausages.”
