Gold Trip has won the Melbourne Cup.

The horse, rode by Mark Zahra and trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, beat out Emissary and High Emocean to take out the trophy.

Cath Denton, jockey Mark Zahra’s aunty, said hearing the race call again was incredibly emotional.

“I was just screaming, hands clenched, jumping up and down!”

She said it had been a long-time coming, and she was feeling proud.

“So proud of you Marky!”

Mr Maher said after the race it was an incredible moment.
