Support for border businesses under $54.5 million state and Commonwealth package
Queensland businesses doing it tough on the border will be able to apply for grants of up to $50,000 as part of a joint support package between the state and federal governments.
A support package of $54.5 million will go toward small business grants, Gold Coast Council’s voucher scheme, tourism marketing and mental health support.
Hardship grants of $5000 will be made available to employers, while sole traders can be eligible for $1000.
Hospitality venues and tourism operators which have seen a 70 per cent reduction in turnover since July will be eligible for grants of up to $50,000.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said it’s hoped the package will provide a lifeline for businesses impacted by the NSW lockdown.
“With the Delta variant continuing to rage in Sydney, we’re investing in our economic recovery in Queensland to support local businesses to make it through the pandemic.”
