Sydney man tests positive for monkeypox after recent trip to QLD
Queensland Health says it’s working with authorities in NSW after a man who recently left the state tested positive for monkeypox.
The virus was first detected in Australia a few weeks ago.
The man in his 50s has developed a mild illness several days after arriving back in Sydney.
It’s the second case in NSW.
The man is currently being cared for in hospital.
It’s unclear if there are any close contacts in Queensland who may be required to isolate.
