A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the stabbing murder of a 43-year-old man in Wilston.

The man’s body was found by a member of the public at 1.50am Sunday morning, less than a kilometre from his home.

What happened in the lead-up to his death is still unclear to police, who are appealing for any witnesses or dashcam footage that could be relevant.

9News reporter Aislin Kriukelis told Laurel, Gary & Mark the alleged offender and a 17-year-old girl were already with police when the victim’s body was discovered on Newmarket Road.

A routine police patrol had spotted the boy “running” down the road, allegedly holding a large, almost 45-centimetre knife.

“It was suspicious enough to take him away for questioning and it was about an hour and a half later that a member of the public called through, saying they’d found this man’s body.”

The 17-year-old Burpengary boy was charged with murder, and a 17-year-old Keperra girl was charged with one count of assault police.

Both have been denied bail and will appear before the Children’s Court at a later date.
