If we didn’t already have a rivalry between the Broncos and the Dolphins, there’s certainly one erupting now.

In a matter of days, the NRL’s newest team is expected to confirm the signing of Broncos fullback Tesi Niu.

“He was given permission by Brisbane late last season to negotiate with other clubs and we’ve pretty much all known the Dolphins were going to be the likely destination,” 9News sport reporter Michael Atkinson told Luke Bradnam on 4BC Summer Breakfast.

“The one thing that’s held it up to this point is Tesi’s been in the process of switching managers.”

Niu will become the fourth Bronco poached by the Dolphins, with Anthony Milford now also on deck.

It comes as the Dolphins hit their first full training session ahead of the 2023 season.

Assistant coach Nathan Fien told Greg Cary the next two months will be spent seeing “where everyone fits in the puzzle”.

“There’s no better man, manager than Wayne Bennett, leading the ship with regards to that,” he said.

“The first session today was very exciting to have everyone back. Probably baby steps at the moment for us but we’re definitely pushing to be as ready as possible.”
