‘That’s not cool’: Senator renews calls for plant-based ‘meat’ crackdown
A push to crack down on plant-based products imitating meats has been renewed.
A senate inquiry into the matter was recently held, launched by LNP senator Susan McDonald.
She told Neil Breen there were “a few” recommendations, including dropping animal terms from labelling.
“This is a perfect example of where the world has just gone a little bit mad,” she said.
“At the end of the day, they’re nutritionally different, they’re used for different purposes.
“There’s got to be some guidelines around [it], exactly like our export market.”
