Neil Breen has delivered an fiery editorial about Queensland’s “small fry” attitude when it comes to hosting concerts and major events at Suncorp Stadium.

A press release from the Queensland government this afternoon announcing an increase on the cap of concerts allowed to be held at the stadium left Neil incensed.

“During the 4pm news, I was handed a press release that’s made me happy yet it’s totally incensed me at the same time.”

The state government boasted it would enhance Queensland’s “great lifestyle and local jobs” to see the concert cap increased to 12 annually in 2023-2024.

But Neil was left shaking his head.

“It’s because Queensland, I’m sorry, has never properly grown up.”

He questioned what the stadium was there for, if not for big name acts and international musicians.

“We’ve gone out and bought the Olympic Games and we have told the world we are a global city, yet we are so small fry in our own minds, that the government puts out a press release to say that for 2023-24, not forever, we can have 12 concerts at Suncorp Stadium instead of 6.

“Are you kidding me?”
