The Aussie making a name for himself as a sumo wrestling commentator

Alan Jones is broadcasting from Tokyo all this week as the Rugby World Cup continues.
But it’s not just rugby that’s taking his interest, with Alan bringing his listeners a series of fascinating stories from across Japan.
He caught up with Aussie expat Murray Johnson who has made a name for himself as the English voice of sumo wrestling.
Johnson moved to Japan in the early 1990s and tells Alan he fell into the role.
“I had a sports background calling football and cricket and golf and all sorts of things.
“They were looking to expand the English coverage and they asked me a couple of times and I said ‘I know bugger all about this’.
“So I went away and learnt for a couple of years… and I joined in 1996.”
He’s also a racing commentator and shared his hot tips for the Japanese horses heading to the Cox Plate.
