The Ekka handed multi-million dollar lifeline after 2 year hiatus
The Ekka is back for 2022 in the most exciting sign yet that Brisbane’s resurgence after COVID is booming.
A $6.5 federal grant will mean the event can make an historic return for Queenslanders after two straight years of COVID cancellations.
CEO of the RNA, Brendan Christou, says with 140 or so days to go, everything is looking good.
He says without the support, it would have meant the Ekka was facing a dire financial predicament.
The event will also run over 9 days, instead of 10.
“We are set for the dates, there’s a little change there for this year … we are going to a nine-day show, so we are starting on the Saturday which is August 6, so slight change in the number of days.”
