The expansion plan to make Brisbane a premier superyacht destination
There could be more superyachts of the rich and famous sailing into Brisbane.
Brisbane City Council has approved a $200 million dollar superyacht expansion for the Rivergate Marina, under the Gateway Bridge in Murarrie.
It’s hoped the river city could welcome more super yachts and become a premier superyacht destination.
Rivergate Marina director Tom Hill explained a superyacht is over 24 metres.
He says Australia punches already above its weight.
“There’s 6500 of these vessels currently in the world, there’s a fair bit of work to go around, put it that way.”
He says the expansion will create more jobs, as well as bringing in $1 billion into the Queensland economy.
