Neil Breen says the NRL should have given the Dolphins a leg up in their first year in the competition.

The Dolphins and the Brisbane Broncos have revealed their teams for Round 1.

“I reckon the Dolphins weren’t done enough favours by the NRL to try and build a team,” Neil said.

“I reckon they were just given the licence and given the same salary cap as everyone else.”

He said they could only target players who were off-contract at the end of season 2022, or players being rejected by other clubs.

“When the Gold Coast Suns came into the AFL competition, at the same time as GWS, the AFL gave them enormous draft concessions to help them build teams.”
