Tourists have returned to the Gold Coast in droves this Easter, with the travel destination particularly popular for one Aussie city.

The school holidays are expected to give the Gold Coast a $173 million boost as thousands of interstate travellers touch down in the Sunshine State.

Destination Gold Coast Head of Stakeholders and Strategy Rachel Hancock says there’s been an influx of travellers looking for a warmer sea change.

“21,000 passengers came in on one day earlier this month for the Gold Coast Airport and we’re expecting 28,000, which is a record, for Easter Monday.

“They’re coming in droves and a lot of them are coming from Melbourne, which is great to see!

“We’re really packed at the moment, 85 per cent capacity in hotels across the Coast.”
