The question that made Sir Curtly Ambrose give Chris Smith his famous stare down
Chris Smith has got himself on the wrong side of the scariest man ever to play cricket.
Sir Curtly Ambrose terrorised Australia’s batsmen in the 80s and 90s, with his stare down the stuff of legends.
Now he’s taking on a new challenge, signing up for the new season of Dancing With The Stars on Channel 10.
But Chris Smith’s first question stirred up Sir Curtly’s famous fiery nature.
“What I’m about to say is probably akin to Dean Jones telling you to take off your wristband.”
“But, I can’t lie, I’ve seen the promo footage of you dancing Sir Curtly, and I’m not so sure whether dancing is your forte…”.
“Well…” says Sir Curtly.
“Oh no, look… there’s steam coming out of his ears,” Chris jokes.
“Well I’m quite happy that you say that because one; I thrive at competition, two; when people start to doubt my ability to do something, I’ve always stepped up.
“So that’s a little bit of inspiration there. Thank you.”
As for the leotards, sequins and fancy clothes… Sir Curtly says he can’t wait to get dressed up in something other than cricket gear.
“I’ve tried some attire on and everyone was very impressed.
“They were saying how good I look in the outfit and I think it looks good.
“Something different, it’s not whites anymore.”
