Thousands of cases still awaiting DNA testing; Neil Breen reacts
The reality of Queensland’s DNA testing backlog mess has been revealed, with upwards of 10,000 cases awaiting testing.
Six months after a commission of inquiry into the forensic DNA testing in Queensland demonstrated major failings in the state’s DNA testing program, it’s now been revealed that over 10,000 cases are still awaiting testing.
According to the Courier Mail, Deputy Chief Magistrate Anthony Gett divulged the whopping backlog on Monday in court.
The Australian Federal Police have now been enlisted to help the state deal sort out the mess.
Neil Breen slams Queensland’s health department on Brisbane Live, saying “there can’t be a reshuffle of the Queensland cabinet soon enough”.
