Tim Cahill: Socceroos’ World Cup squad not for the ‘fainthearted’
The Socceroos World Cup squad has been trimmed to 26 and veteran Tim Cahill has made the cut.
Arguably the greatest player this country has produced, the 37-year-old has 105 caps for Australia and is hoping to play at his fourth consecutive World Cup.
Tim tells his old friend Alan Jones – the “godfather” as he likes to call him – being picked once again was a particularly proud moment.
“It’s a great day, I’m so proud to be selected in the 26 for the next camp.
“It’s a big moment for me and all the hard work that’s gone in now, it just feels good.”
The former Socceroo’s skipper has also revealed how new coach Bert van Marwijk operates.
“The best thing about the coach is he keeps his cards close to his chest.
“This squad won’t be for the fainthearted. The training regime, the tactics, they’ll adapt to win games and do anything possible to help Australia do well in the next World Cup.”
If Tim doesn’t have enough on his plate, we think he may also be considering a regular appearance on Alan’s show.
