Touch footy junior championships called off due to wet weather
Families and junior touch footy players have been left devastated after the Queensland Touch Football Junior State Cup was called off.
The state championships for kids aged 7-18 were due to start today on the Fraser Coast but due to wet weather, they were cancelled.
“It is devastating for everybody particularly for our juniors, it’s definitely something that we don’t enjoy having to do and it impacts families, it impacts all of our members,” chairman of the Queensland Touch Football Board, Troy Morgan said on 4BC Drive.
“It’s unfortunate that rain throughout the year has impacted the fields at the Fraser Coast.”
They would have only been able to use 8 out of 22 fields.
He says he completely understands the frustration of families, some who had booked accommodation.
They’re hopeful they can reschedule the event.
