Transport Minister not backing down from Ferry McFerryface
NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance is standing by his ‘captain’s call’ to name a Sydney Harbour Ferry, ‘Ferry McFerryface’.
Ignoring the shortlist put together by a panel of four distinguished Australians, the Minister went ahead with the name taken from overseas.
After widespread criticism, the Minister’s office promised to look at changing the name, but now a spokeswoman says, “It will have the name Ferry McFerryface in service for summer.”
Assistant Secretary of the Sydney branch of the Maritime Union of Australia Paul Garrett has told Ray Hadley it’s not the biggest issue going around, but insists it must be addressed.
“We’ve been inundated with messages saying good on you for standing up and having a shot at them.”
“I think it’s fair to say Ray this joke has absolutely bombed and no-one’s taking it seriously anymore, so it should just be left in the annals of history and let go.”
