Treasurer forecasts spending surge as Australia reopens
A $1 billion surge in spending is expected as restrictions ease and international travel partially resumes.
Qantas and Virgin are reporting a big increase in ticket sales, with Queensland on the cards for many travellers.
It comes as NSW, Victoria and the ACT re-open their economies after months of lockdown.
Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg told Neil Breen he’s confident we’re bouncing back.
“When restrictions started to ease in Victoria and NSW, we saw people spend in a big way.
“Clearly people are taking the opportunity to get out and about as quickly as possible.”
