Weather forecasters are keeping a close eye on a tropical low in Queensland’s Gulf of Carpentaria.
The tropical low is continuing to move west over the Gulf while developing further.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Jess Gardner says there is a high chance it will develop into a tropical cyclone early tomorrow.
Heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding, is likely across the state’s far north over the next few days.
Cyclone warning declared between #CapeYork and Cape Keerweer as a Tropical low continues to develop over the Gulf. A watch zone is also in place for remaining areas between #Kowanyama and Saibai Island, including adjacent inland areas. For info: https://t.co/5iKiGdZyzx pic.twitter.com/eXmwPfsTjN
