It’s an unseasonably warm start to autumn, with temperatures set to climb to the mid 30s across much of the state today.

In Brisbane, temperatures are expected to soar to 33 degrees, while out west in Ipswich, the mercury will climb to 36.

That’s pushing five degrees above the usual March average.

Long-range forecaster Hayden Walker told Laurel, Gary & Mark while March will bring average rainfall totals, April will be a different story.

“The month to look out for during autumn will be April,” he said. “There’s some good to heavy rains during April, particularly the beginning of the month.

“We haven’t had a great deal so far. That’s the one to keep an eye on.”
