‘Unsettled’ week ahead with more wild weather on the way
Heavy rain is on the way this week in the south-east of the state, with forecasts predicting an “unsettled” week.
Parts of Queensland were hit with thunderstorms and large hail recorded near Gladstone.
Nine News weatherman Garry Youngberry said there was a nasty storm in the Boondall area.
“As you’ve seen, there is just this big line of storms sweeping across south-east Queensland, all the way up to the central coast of Queensland, it is quite massive,” he told Scott Emerson.
“At the moment some very nasty storms from Southport heading into the Gold Coast hinterland.
“Looks like there could be hail associated with those storms.”
He said there was a “big band of rain” and a few cells west of the city.
He said we’re in for an “unsettled week”.
There was even a tornado recorded in Pittsworth, near Toowoomba.

There’s also around 7000 homes without power, mainly in the Gold Coast and Logan areas.
There’s been 85,000 lightning strikes.
Traffic reporter Rhys Messenger said there were was a number of very heavy roads.
