Urgent roundtable to tackle spate of e-scooter battery fires
Firefighters and the state government will hold an urgent roundtable meeting to address e-scooter battery fires.
It comes after yet another Queensland family had a lucky escape this morning when their Bundamba home caught alight.
Four people, including two children, were inside when an e-scooter battery caught went up in flames.
9News reporter Peter Fegan told Laurel, Gary & Mark there’s been 24 structural fires across Queensland in six months caused by e-scooter batteries.
“What they want to do is start having a chat about putting restrictions on charging inside houses and just leaving them on charge,” he said.
“Say you live on the 15th floor of, say, 20 floors and it catches alight, you’re in big strife. The firies are really worried about this.”
