Victoria Cross winner backs Royal Commission into veteran suicides
Australia’s most highly decorated former SAS soldier has commended the New South Wales government for supporting a Royal Commission into veteran suicides.
Formal corporal Ben Roberts-Smith was part of a summit in Sydney, which heard from the mothers of six veterans who have taken their own lives.
The Victoria Cross recipient tells Alan Jones it is progress towards reducing the suicide rate.
“To have the NSW Government, through the Minister for Veteran Affairs, actually commit to support a Royal Commission was a pretty significant step forward.
“And one that hopefully will put some more pressure on the federal government.”
