War of words: Federal MP says all states deserve more hospital funding
Oxley MP Milton Dick has defended the Queensland government’s push for extra funding for the public hospital system.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he won’t be drawn in to “shakedowns” from Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
But Federal Labor MP Milton Dick says all states deserve more funding.
“I think the answer to that is yes, but that should be every state and territory, I don’t think Queensland on its own Scott,” he told Scott Emerson.
He said he was concerned about regional and rural hospitals, if COVID cases emerge, and said the hospital system is going to be under enormous pressure.
“We are heading towards opening up, there’s a lot of pressure for the state governments to deliver on opening the borders,” he said.
“And I think it is wise for our Premier and Health Minister just as Steven Marshall did today in South Australia, that the federal government, the largest contributor to our hospital system does cough up and make sure that Queenslanders are protected, particularly when we are talking about opening the borders and international borders as well.”
